Today I woke up at eleven, but didn't get out of bed until two. I drank orange juice, which is not something I usually do. I finished the last pages of Catcher in the Rye, and didn't understand why I had hated that book as an actual real-life high school kid. I think back then I was trying to be a grow up, whereas now that prospect is too real to be appealing. Well, I loved it. My coming of age obsession has not been satisfied.
Graham made sunny side up eggs. Two of the eggs were big and brown, and two were elongated and green. The green ones ended up having a thicker texture. I wonder if chickens care whose eggs are better. I seriously doubt it. I don't even really want to think about what eggs mean to chickens.
Read some of the Genesis Illustrated R. Crumb book, and some of "the whole family's crazy" comic book thing that includes comics from a few of the Crumb brothers, plus Aline and Sophie. He's very interesting to me, Robert Jr. At least for now.
Went out to Yang Chow in Chinatown at three, had egg drop soup and General Tse's chicken. I wonder which generals liked the best chicken. Graham had something that is world famous (or so it claims). The slippery shrimp. I'm allergic to shrimp but still ate some.
Drove up to Pasadena to go watch the new Almodovar movie Broken Embraces. Ended up not feeling like it. Vroman's was closed, too. I want to watch Broken Embraces, White Ribbon and An Education soon. Still can't stop thinking about Lars Von Trier's Anti Christ.
Tried to go get a cup of coffee from Psychobabble but it was closed. It was the last day of the 20% off sale at Skylight. Thought about buying Tao Lin's Bed, but just like last time I thought about it too much and ended up not buying it. Bought a really beautiful copy of Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Ubervilles. The only reason I bought it was possibly because of the design of the cover. And by possibly I mean definitely. Thought about Proust, and how I totally abandoned the Swann's Way series midway, thought I loved those books. Thought about getting a new book of poetry, but couldn't decide which. Read a few pages from Rilke, E. E. Cummings, etc...Thought about buying a graphic novel about a guy who spent three years in a Japanese prison. He documented all three years through drawings. Leafed through a book called Hot Potato.
Listened to a mix I made a while ago. I was surprised to hear Geneva Jacuzzi on the radio the other day. I guess I shouldn't have been, since Human Ear music are based out of Echo Park.
Drove back to Graham's, ate the leftover Chinese food. Finished reading a few Crumb comics, "Trouble with Women." Learned that his wife and him have a very open relationship. Decided that open relationships must be a lot of work for most people. I don't think it would feel very nice to the average person.
Grabbed my green bean slicer, cupcake liners and sprinkles. Might make green tea cupcakes tonight. Drove home, got lost (I don't even know how). I keep not paying attention to where I'm driving, and then when I try to correct myself I find that nothing is on a grid because of the hills. Mike is over at Eli's eating pizza. I want ice cream, but then again...I want to not feel like dying. Soy ice cream is too sugary. I want a tofutti cutie. Maybe I'll defrost some of the poppy seed bread Mike's mom sent us. It's very great.
I had some sort of notion that I would make a survey that I would fill out every day. I'll write too if I've got the time, but at least fill it out. I'm not sure what it will contain. I'm not sure what I want to record. At the MOCA, I saw a girl who recorded how much she weighed, what she ate, her bodily functions, etc, every day when she woke up and included a picture of herself, however she looked when she awoke. I'm not sure which aspects of my life interest me the most. I guess the things I collect interest me the most. Books, music. Movies to a lesser extent, though not less important. So, I guess...

Anyway. Hopefully I'll do this every day (fingers crossed). I keep failing to do at least one constant thing every day. I'm going to put some music on and finish working on getting all my stuff out of the boxes. Out of my dreams and into my car. 2010 should be interesting. I guess any minute details from life are interesting. I'd love to know what everybody does every second of every day. Then again, maybe not.
